On the occasion of International Environment Day, a meaningful Green Day celebration was organized on 10th June 2025 at Bukla Village, Vadgam Taluk, Gujarat, by the Bethany Charitable Trust. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and responsible living among rural women.
Sr Leena Pereira, resource person, enlightened the participants about the importance of preserving the environment, keeping surroundings clean, and planting trees for a sustainable future. Her engaging and practical talk deeply inspired the gathering.
Around 30 women from the village actively participated in the programme. Sr. Leena encouraged the participants to adopt simple yet effective practices in their daily lives to protect Mother Earth. She also highlighted the long-term benefits of greenery and the need to eliminate plastic usage.
The event was honored by the presence of Sr Gracy, Vice President of BCT, Sr Wilma, Secretary of BCT, appreciated the women’s active involvement.
Sr Veena Crasta Principal of Bethany Secondary School Limboi and Sr Smita, Vice Principal also addressed the gathering with motivating words, calling everyone to work together for a greener tomorrow.
A special highlight of the programme was the distribution of saplings Some of the woman received a plant to take home as a symbol of hope and commitment to environmental care. The initiative created a personal sense of ownership and responsibility.
The women expressed their gratitude for such an informative and inspiring programme. The event concluded with an informal interaction, fostering fellowship and shared commitment.
The Green Day celebration at Bukla was a resounding success, blending awareness with action. It demonstrated the power of community, especially women, in contributing to environmental sustainability.
